TOURNAMENT FORMATS/POINTS SYSTEM

All tournaments except one in 2006 were  Stroke Play events, played under USGA rules, as modified by local course rules in effect. The exception was a modified stapleford system (points only) played at Timbercreek.  The Regular-Season events are 36-hole tournaments.

All players, except those 60-up who declare to compete in the Super Senior  division, compete in the regular division of each regular-season event.

Emerald Coast Senior Masters Match Play Champion

This event took the place of the Senior Masters Invitational starting in 2007.  The field for the  Match Play Championship is a limited-field event.  This event will be a 36-hole match play tournament with 36 holes being played each day for those advancing. The top 16 and 8 point leaders of the open senior division and super senior division respectively, at the end of the points tournament gain entry.
           
Challenge Cup Team

Selection to the annual Emerald Coast Senior Scratch Series Challenge Cup Team is based on the following criteria:

1. The top10 in points list standings on the Open Division regular points list through the conclusion of the tournament proceeding the scheduled match play championship event.

2. The  2 Captain’s Choices, which can be chosen from the Super Senior division or from the Open division, based on any criteria the Captain chooses in order to strengthen the overall team. Regular Season Competition

Competition performance is rewarded by award of points. Both performance and participation are considered. Points are awarded only to players completing an event.

Open Division Points System Players competing in Open Division finishing in the Top-25 in a tournament receive points as follows:

All players finishing 26th and below receive 100 points less 1(one) point for each place they finish below 26th place, ie 26th = 100, 27th = 99, 28th = 98, 29th = 97, 30th = 96, etc. Players who tie for a position their points will be added through the tied positions and divided by the number tied and each will receive the same points.  IE., a tie for 2nd and 3rd place = 495 points divided by 2 = 247.5 points would be awarded to 2nd and 3rd place.

Super Senior Division Points System Players age 60-up can opt to compete in the Super Senior Division. Points are allotted as follows:

All players finishing below 21st place receive 1(one) point less for each place they finish below the 21st place's 50 points, ie 22nd = 49, 23rd = 48, 24th = 47, 25th = 46, 26th = 45, etc. Players who tie for a position their points will be added through the tied positions and divided by the number tied and each will receive the same points.  IE., a tie for 2nd and 3rd place = 295 points divided by 2 = 147.5 points would be awarded to 2nd and 3rd place.
